Needed tweaks benefit this underrated family monster machine.
What is it?
This is the New 2022 Ford Expedition - Ford's largest and full-size SUV option. Technically speaking this Expedition isn't "New," but rather a thorough update or refresh of an already appealing vehicle. You can cross shop it with the Chevy Tahoe/GMC Yukon/Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator and Jeep Wagoneers.
What's changed?
A lot actually. It has many upgrades, styling tweaks and enhancements - making it more appealing than before. Big, useful, and fun, the New Expedition boasts even more reasons to fall in love.
Do I want one?
You very well might. If you're shopping for a true full-size SUV then you owe it to yourself to give it a look - especially with this updated model.
Highlights of the 2022 Ford Expedition:
New Timberline Series
This new Expedition Timberline Series offers an off-road capable vehicle with increased ground clearance of 10.6 inches, Trail Turn Assist, Goodyear Wrangler AT tires, best power in the class and an underbody skid plate borrowed from the Raptor. Additionally, it offers an appearance both inside and out that separate it from other models.
New Stealth Edition
The Stealth model of the 2022 Ford Expedition is geared toward the sporty side with a sport tuned suspension and lots of gloss black touches. It is available on the Limited and Limited Max models. This could be a popular option if you plan to make most of your journeys on pavement.
BlueCruise
Expedition now offers the Ford BlueCruise hands-free highway driving which allows the car to drive itself in certain conditions and with driver attention monitored via camera.
New Digital Infotainment System
Ford has also introduced the 12.4 inch digital gauge cluster, Sync 4, Ford Power-Up software, and an optional 15.5 inch portrait oriented multimedia display which greatly enhances the interiors feel (a 12 inch digital display is standard).
New B&O Sound System
Bang & Olufsen Unleashed Sound System featuring 22 speakers and subwoofer offers a 360° surround experience.
New Rear Seat Entertainment
The rear seat system now utilizes Amazon Fire TV - a much needed upgrade to rear seat systems. Now you can stream and play whatever you want, or, at least your passengers can.
New Driver Assistance Technology
Every 2022 Expedition now offers Road Edge Detection, Intersection Assist, Reverse Brake Assist, Evasive Steering Assist and Active Air Dam - among the many other assistance systems already offered by Ford.
Increased Towing Capability
Hopefully you have some toys to bring with you on your trips. If so, you can opt for Pro Trailer Backup Assist 2.0. Either way, you can now tow up to 9300 pounds with your class leading 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that delivers 440 hp and 510 lb/ft of torque.
Deliveries should start by the end of this year.
